The BNP in London Print E-mail
Thursday, 18 September 2008
Invitation to groups to co-ordinate a response to the BNP's growing presence in central London.

Monday 22nd Sept - 7.30pm
Cock Tavern
23 Phoenix Road
Camden
NW1 1HB
(nearest tube: Euston Station)

The BNP are standing 2 candidates in local by-elections (Camden - 25 Sept, and Haringey - 9 Oct) in the near future. This escalation in their activities in central London shows a disturbing trend both in their growing political confidence but also in the fact that can go about their business unhindered.

The question is should there be a co-ordinated London response to this situation, and if so what form does that response take?

This not only affects anti-fascist groups but also local groups as the bnp seem to be targeting genuine concerns in those areas but obviously twisting it to suit their particular agenda.

We should all be very concerned about this current bnp strategy. Regardless of how many votes they get in Camden and Haringey it seems they will continue to make their presence felt in central London [with an eye on the european elections in 2009] which can only reflect badly in the communities they operate in.

With that in mind there will be a meeting on Monday 22nd Sept inviting those from the local group's network, anti-fascist and anarchist groups to discuss how we respond to the bnp in central London.
