Protest to Save Hackney's NHS!

In Hackney, NHS cuts are beginning to cause real harm to patient care. Cuts at the Homerton Hospital are escalating, with maternity beds axed, midwives facing redundancy, the specialist breast cancer nurse service cut, redundancy of nurses and therapists, cuts to rehabilitation care for patients who have had a stroke… Rationing of food and milk is so severe that women who have just given birth find themselves unable to have a cup of tea because the hospital can’t afford milk!

Manor Garden Allotments

The Manor Gardening Society's Emergency General Meeting will be held on March 4th, this coming Sunday at 11.00 am. This will take place at the Eastway Baths Community Centre at Eastway, Hackney Wick.

The London Developent Authority will be attending to announce their intentions following the failure of their Marsh Lane plan.

Angry Hackney residents get organised

Over 70 local tenants and residents packed out Trewlawney Estate Commnity Hall on Monday 29th January to discuss the council's new proposals to allow Housing Associations to build homes on their estates. The meeting was called by the TRAs of Trelawney Esate and Aspland & Marcon Estates.

The Battle for Broadway Market documentary - public screening

At the end of November 2005 an occupation was started by local residents at 34 Broadway Market to prevent it being knocked down for luxury flats. Over the next few months support multiplied and the news travelled around the world. It's a story that brings in corrupt property developers, an incompetent council, rampant gentrification and the question of just what sort of community we want in 21st century London.
This is the definitive film of the event.
